Armada is a real-time strategy game in which players select a faction from the Star Trek universe and build fleets of starships and space station bases to conduct battle. Four playable factions are featured in the game: the Federation, the Klingons, the Romulans, and the Borg. Here is the video game “Star Trek: Armada”! Released in 2000 on Windows, it's still available and playable with some tinkering. It's a strategy game, set in a real-time, sci-fi. I'm trying to run Armada on Windows XP Home SP3. The game is patched to 1.2 and I have decreased my audio acceleration to 'Basic' to get around the stuttering sound issues. However, the cutscenes are unbearably slow (like 1 FPS) and gameplay itself is similarly slow.

This is not fully correct: it works on my system, when setting it to use Win2000 compatibility mode.

Prerequirements are official patch 1.02 has to be installed first.
The patch works on all three of my systems (Intell and AMD boards), and others have also reported success.

Check the site (subsection downloads - others) for the German patch, and several mods (I recommend the Direct3D mod -- makes BOTF's batlles run a lot smoother). It is also one of the few remaining sites to hold the official 1.02 Patch.
